35 days ago, 15 days into the blog, I photographed the tree above in the snow:
Today, on day 50, it was dripping with spring rain.
I once read a book on nature photography in which a photographer described getting to know a lake. You cannot know a lake by visiting it once, he said, you need to traverse it in all seasons and all weather, to see how it responds to all manners of light, and to catalogue its many seasonal visitors. Then, maybe, you can attempt to know and capture the essence of it.
And so, having revisited this tree twice already, I plan to get to know it in the remaining 315 days.
Here is the same image, minus that last few stages of post-processing. I’m still not sure which I prefer.
